In Progress
To help the Inner Forth area respond to the climate and biodiversity emergencies, and ensure that a just transition to net zero can be realised, young job seekers within the Climate FORTH project area will benefit from obtaining a range of ‘green’ skills and experiences. They will gain an awareness of the range of work and jobs involved in climate adaptation and mitigation activities.
This activity will create a Climate FORTH online training portal which will house a series of bespoke and Inner Forth-focused training modules, with content aligned to the Climate FORTH project’s themes and activities and our landscape. The activities will benefit young people to build their experience, knowledge and understanding of heritage, green job prospects, climate change and resilience.
The ‘mix and match’ style of personal growth-based ‘training’ programme will allow participants to choose whether to participate on-line, in-person or through both methods.
We will also promote pre-bookable ‘taster days’ or ‘taster sessions,’ linked to natural and historic heritage work and other Climate FORTH activities. These sessions aim to give young people direct access to a wider range of heritage-based jobs than they may have previously been aware of.
Young people who participate in this Mix & Match training will not only develop skills to look after heritage assets but also develop ‘skills for life:’ teamwork; communication; critical thinking; informed decision making and problem solving; and working to safety standards.
