Black Devon Wetland Trail

As part of the RSPB's plans for Black Devon Wetland this project aimed to improve the paths around the reserve so that visitors can enjoy the great natural experience that it has to offer while protecting the wildlife from too much disturbance. 

During winter 2017, a new boardwalk and pond dipping platforms were installed by RSPB staff and a dedicated team of volunteers. It was boggy work but created an area that is safer and more accessible for pond dipping and allow visitors to walk further around the wetland pool. In November, the IFLI team and colleagues from RSPB Glasgow lent a hand with boardwalk construction (photos courtesy of Hannah Sharratt and David Anderson).

 

Work took place over the summer of 2016 to help visitors get closer to the range of wildlife found at RSPB Black Devon Wetlands, with construction completed of a new boardwalk to the viewing screen, a viewing mound with bench and a new area of wetland, as well as improved paths around the site.

The reserve will continue to host a series of walks and family days throughout the year. Keep an eye on the RSPB website for more information.
