An introduction to Rannoch Park
Rannoch Park is a large, open park with sports pitches and play facilities located to the south of the Bowhouse area of Grangemouth. The site was identified for greenspace improvement works focused on reducing the impacts of heavy rainfall and supporting climate adaptation and resilience.
Following a development phase and consultation, work on the park began in early December 2024. Works include:
- Creating new shallow detention basins and a swale to help store and manage excess surface water whilst creating habitat for wildlife
- Planting new areas of tree, woodland, shrub and grass to intercept rainfall, lock in water and reduce surface water flooding
- New trees and areas of woodland will also provide shelter and shade, intercept noise and particle pollution, boost biodiversity, and provide habitat and forage for wildlife
- Two new paths across the site
- Spring bulb planting
- A new picnic area with benches and the reorientation of the eastern football pitch
Further information including detailed maps of the interventions can be found at Rannoch Park - Green Action Trust
